    Description

    UNGER BROS. STERLING SILVER PUFF JAR DOUBLE MAIDEN ART NOUVEAU RARE PATTERN 1905.
    It’s Unger Bros., so there’s no need to go into the exquisite workmanship and design.
    The pattern is called “ART NOUVEAU” and it is in fact the epitome of the Art Nouveau style.
    Two languid maidens with hair swirling adorn the top amid flourishes and florals. Because of the star on her forehead denoting royalty, many collectors have dubbed this pattern “ Art Nouveau Princess.”
    This is a rare pattern and not often seen. Page 174 of the Unger 1904 catalog lists it as #6457 with the Newark jar (it would be #6456 with the Prism jar).

    Amazingly there are no dings or dents to the sides and the features on both maidens are sharp and defined, no softening or rubbing, even on the high spots.
    NOTE #1:
    There are holes from overzealous polishing on the high spots of the little flowers
    .
    Because of all the details they’re hard to see when looking from the topside. Please look at image 3 (9:00 o’clock) and the underside image of the lid (image 11).
    NOTE #2:
    The lid is stamped STERLING 925 FINE but the UB logo has been polished away (image 10).
    There is a lightly engraved fancy script monogram but it has mostly been polished away so only faint remnants remain.
    CRYSTAL JAR:
    This is the Newark pattern.

    The rim has been professionally grounded down and smoothed to a completely smooth finish where there must have been some chips at one time. I’m very picky and this doesn’t bother me at all. A minuscule shallow flake remains on the top, totally inconsequential and probably happened after they ground down the rest.
    Despite the above quibbles, the puff jar is absolutely stunning and displays beautifully.
    This is very heavy with the crystal jar and will be shipped USPS Flat Rate Medium Box. There will be room for additional items (that can travel safely together) if anything else appeals and the extra items will ship free. Additional insurance will be absorbed by me.
