UNGER BROS. EVANGELINE STERLING SILVER COAT BRUSH DOUBLE SIDED ULTRA ULTRA RARE!.
This is so rare
! Haven’t seen another Evangeline coat brush in 40 years as a dealer.
This type of brush with hard bristles was used to brush snow off coats. If it was a larger size the brush would be used as a crumber to clear tables.
It has a fancy gathered fabric skirt which is in remarkable condition. It only needs a few tiny stitches (if desired) to re-attach the fabric to the trim where it has pulled away in a few spots. But it’s completely intact.
The sterling handle is breathtaking.
Evangeline is one of the most highly coveted of Unger patterns and on this double-sided brush we have two Evangelines and they are both in pristine condition with no dings or dents or push-ins to either one.
On one side of the handle the top is perfect with no dings or dents. On the second side there are a few dents (see images).
There are also dents to each of the lower sides (that hold the bristles) and the top. The upper sides (of the handle) are in very good condition.
Warm patina exactly as collectors desire.
The brush is marked STERLING 925 FINE with the UB trademark and also
PAT’D JUNE 30 1903.
