    Description

Nicolas Vuillaume Cello c. 1850. Condition is "Used".  As a member of the Vuillaume family of makers and the younger brother of the famous Jean Baptiste Vuillaume, Nicolas Vuillaume helped continue a long tradition of violin making.  He was born in 1800 in Mirecourt and started his training there with his father, Claude Francois.  He then worked with his brother in Paris from 1832-1841 and subsequently returned to Mirecourt.  Vuillaume ultimately opened his own workshop in Brussels.  He won several awards for his work and became the official luthier for the Royal Conservatoire.  While in Brussels, he also produced instruments for the "Saint-Cecile" and Stentor labels for his brother's workshop.
This cello is branded Stentor on the back of the cello and dated 1855.  It is in excellent condition and has been played by professional musician all over the world.
