ABOUT THIS LISTING:Beautiful Gorham art nouveau repousse sterling clothes/vanity brush made in 1890. Both ends of the brush have date code marks.
One end is the # 509 and a Rooster used in the year 1890. On the other end is the word sterling, and three hallmarks: a lion, an anchor, and a
coat of arms?,
which stands for "the last quarter 19th century." The hallmarks can be documented in the Gorham sterling date and code
marks found in an online "Encyclopedia of Silver Marks, Hallmarks, & Makers' Marks" at www.925-1000.com.
The bristles are thick horsehair and very well attached. The cherub motif is done in repousse. Overall, the brush measures
7 1/4" and is about 2" in height counting the bristles. Weight is 158 grams. No dings, scratches, or other blemishes.
