This is an auction for a fully compensated bridge saddle for acoustic guitar, made from high quality water buffalo bone. Want to make your guitar "wake up" and sound more open and big? The best inexpensive improvement you can make to your guitar toward doing that is to put a bone saddle on it! Don't be fooled by all the inexpensive saddles you see here in eBay that are made of plastic. There's a good reason those saddles are inexpensive. While I'm at it, don't be fooled by the "high-tech" (and often just as expensive, or even more expensive) saddles you see that claim to be man-made synthetic bone or synthetic ivory, that's simply another way of saying
they are plastic
as well. Plastic is inferior to bone, both in quality of tone, and in durability. Think about it, plastic saddles are what come on the least expensive guitars that are sold,
student
guitars, so why would you want to put a
plastic
saddle on your guitar if you are trying to
improve
it? And why would they try to make a synthetic copy of bone when bone material is readily available? The most simple answer is profit margin. Also, why do companies like Taylor and Martin still use bone on their very best guitars (check out the specs on Taylor's Presentation series if you don't believe me)? The answer: because bone is superior to
any
type of plastic material, including "synthetic" bone or "synthetic" ivory.
Some of the guitars we have installed these on and they fit with little or no sanding or filing: Epiphone, Samick, Fender, Alvarez (not all Alvarez use the same type and size of saddle, however, so you should check the measurements against your own guitar's saddle), Indiana, Jay Turser, Washburn, Takamine, Jasmine, Johnson, and many others.
Most replacement bone saddles are not pre-cut and shaped, so what you usually get is what's known as a saddle "blank", and you end up having to have a luthier shape and fit them for you, which can be quite expensive, costing well over .00 in many parts of the country.
Our saddles
, however, have the major part of the work done to them ahead of time, so you can fit them yourself with just a little time and patience. You only need some sand paper and a flat surface to sand them on. These saddles are sized 72mmX3mmX9mm, with a 16" radius (curve) on the top, and their height is 8mm on the low E end and 6mm on the high E end. I have added new photos with one of these saddles sitting next to a ruler so you can measure your saddle currently on your guitar and compare, just in case you don't have a way to measure your saddle in millimeters. We have found that these fit many guitars on the market with no modifications at all, other than sanding the bottom side down just a bit to adjust the string height to your preference. Can be sanded down to fit guitars it is too thick to fit as well. Check our feedback, you will see feedback from MANY satisfied purchasers of our saddles, and bid with confidence!
