Hallmarked Silver - WD, anchor, a lion, and the letter e. The anchor & lion indicate the city of Birmingham; the letter e indicates the year 1904; WD indicates the maker William Davenport.
This antique sterling silver hairbrush is very pretty with embossed repousse decoration of flowers and sinuous scrolls very popular during the Art Nouveau period especially on ladies vanity items. It has real bristles set into a wooden base, the condition is good with no bald areas, measuring just over 9 inches end to end.
At 118 years old it's in nice antique condition there's nothing detrimental to the overall appearance although it does rattle slightly. Both cartouche areas have dents.
