Antique 1890s Sterling Silver Art Nouveau Flowers Swans Vanity Hand Mirror
Presented is an antique, American sterling silver hand mirror made during the late 19th century. This is an incredibly hand chased piece with a very ornate, highly Art Nouveau design. This was most likely made by Unger Brothers. The mirror features high relief iris flowers and a sunrise/sunset above a pair of swans and there is a lovely woman's head with sinuous, flowing hair at the top. The center has an old, original monogram of the initials GOP in a script font.
The side is marked for sterling silver purity. We cannot make out the maker's mark, but the piece is definitely late 19th century and American.
The piece is in great condition for its age. There are some tiny holes worn through on the very high points, but you only notice this upon close inspection of the piece. The mirror itself has some wear, as you can see in the photographs, but it can be replaced.
