The tender shoots are the most favorite, but the bigger sticks are what aid the teeth & keep a healthy bite. As a chinchilla owner myself it's important my chins get the best & I know you want the same. So apple twigs should never be just pruned & given to your pet. I take the time to process these chews to rid them of dirt, germs & tannin's, which is an important step many that sell these skip. I simmer them for 30 minutes & rinse. Water is changed & simmer for another 10 minutes, then rinsed again. I sometimes do a third time if water is still not close to clear. They are Cooled, then processed in a 170-185 degree oven for 9-12 hours until sticks are completely dry. They are then carefully packed & sent to your home for your pet to enjoy!
