Description

Full-sized 1968 German cello, E.R. Pfretzschner. Stunning condition for a newly 55 year old instrument! No cracks. Full-bodied, focused tone that has a smokey timbre. Nice sustain with plenty of projection.
Caspari rosewood pegs that operate like perfection pegs but with a different, almost clutched, mechanism. The screws, when turned, adjust the tightness of the peg as you turn them. I prefer them a bit tighter so that the pegs don’t slip. They function well enough that I decided not to have fine tuners on the tailpiece, as I feel it adds to the classic vintage look. I can certainly install a Wittner tailpiece, if desired.
3-tree Despiau French bridge. Spirocore/Larsen string combo. Updated endpin.
Whether you’re an enthusiast or a player, this is a cool vintage cello to have around.
