    Description

For sale is a program from the fourth-annual Indiana Jazz Festival that was held at Roberts Stadium in Evansville, Indiana, on June 23, 24 and 25, 1961. This 32-page booklet is filled with photos and stories about all of the big-name entertainers who appeared in Evansville for this nationally-acclaimed event. Among the headliners were the Duke Ellington Orchestra, the Dave Brubeck Quartet, Jimmy Rushing, the Cannonball Adderly Quintet, the Paul Winter Sextet, Mel Torme, the Al Hirt Sextet, Lurlean Hunter, Jackie and Roy Kral, Roland Kirk, the Boots Randolph Combo, emcee Gene Lees (editor of Downbeat magazine) and the world premier of the Gospel Roots of Jazz, narrated by Billy Dee Williams and featuring the Staple Singers. Torme has autographed his full-page picture. This program, which also contains vintage ads, is in very good condition and quite hard to find. See my listings for other vintage items, including another Jazz Festival program. I gladly combine shipping fees for multiple purchases when they can be packaged together, and I do ship internationally. Please e-mail me with any questions, and thanks for looking!
